Bushayr bin Yasar narrates from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Abi Hathmah and Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Abdullah bin Sahl and Muhayyisah bin Mas'ud came to Khaybar on some errand, then they separated among its date palms, and Abdullah bin Sahl was killed. So his brother Abd al-Rahman bin Sahl and his paternal cousins Muhayyisah and Huwayyisah, the sons of Mas'ud, came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Abd al-Rahman began to speak first, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Let the elder speak." That is, the eldest person should begin the talk, and Abd al-Rahman was older than his two companions. Then the two of them spoke about the killing of their companion. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Establish your claim to (the blood of) your slain man, or your companion, by the oaths of fifty of you." They said: They (the Jews) are a disbelieving people. The narrator says: So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) paid his blood money. Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "Then I went near one of those she-camels, and it gave me a kick in their enclosure."
