حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ الرَّمَادِيُّ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ: «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، اتَّهِمُوا الرَّأْيَ عَلَى الدِّينِ، فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنَا وَنَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ» فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ
Abu Wa'il narrates from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunayf (may Allah be pleased with him): "O people! Hold your opinion suspect in matters of religion. I saw us when we were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." Then the narrator related the (complete) hadith.
