حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا وَاصِلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بَدْرِ بْنِ أَصْلِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ الْأَطْوَلِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ بَدْرٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعْدٍ يَخْرُجُ إِلَى أَصْحَابِهِ بِتُسْتَرَ، فَيَزُورُهُمْ فَيُقِيمُ يَوْمَ دُخُولِهِ وَالثَّانِي وَيَخْرُجُ فِي الثَّالِثِ، فَيُقَالُ لَهُ: لَوْ أَقَمْتَ، فَيَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ: نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الثَّنَاوَةِ فَمَنْ أَقَامَ بِبِلَادِ الْخَرَاجِ، فَقَدْ ثنا وَأَنَا أَكْرَهُ أَنْ أُقِيمَ "
Wasil bin Abdullah bin Badr bin Asl bin Abdullah bin Sa'd bin al-Atwal said: My father, Abdullah bin Badr, told me that Abdullah bin Sa'd used to go out to his companions in Tustar and visit them; he would stay on the day of his arrival and the second day, and leave on the third. It would be said to him: If only you would stay longer. He would say: I heard my father say: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade me tha'nawah (that is, settling in the lands of kharaj); so whoever stays in the lands of kharaj has committed tha'nawah, and I dislike to stay.
