Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Madinah, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) established brotherhood between him and Sayyiduna Sa'd bin al-Rabi' al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him). Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) offered to share half of his family and his wealth with him, and he had two wives. Abd al-Rahman (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: "May Allah bless you in your family and your wealth; show me the way to the market." The narrator said: So he went to the market and earned some profit in cheese and ghee. A few days later the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw him with a trace of yellow on him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What is the matter, Abd al-Rahman?" He said: "I have married a woman of the Ansar." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What dowry did you give her?" He said: "Gold the weight of a date stone." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hold a wedding feast (walimah), even if only with one goat."
