حَدَّثَنَا مُصْعَبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ حَمْزَةَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو ضَمْرَةَ أَنَسُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَبَّانَ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عَمْرَةَ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ أَشْجَعَ تُوُفِّيَ، وَأَنَّهُمْ ذَكَرُوهُ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «صَلُّوا عَلَى صَاحِبِكُمْ» فَتَغَيَّرَتْ وُجُوهُ الْقَوْمِ لِذَلِكَ، فَلَمَّا رَأَى الَّذِي بِهِمْ، قَالَ: «إِنَّ صَاحِبَكُمْ غَلَّ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ» فَفَتَّشْنَا مَتَاعَهُ فَوَجَدْنَا خَرَزًا مِنْ خَرَزِ الْيَهُودٍ مَا يُسَاوِي دِرْهَمَيْنِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Khalid al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man from Banu Ashja', one of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), died, and the people mentioned him to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Offer the funeral prayer over your companion." At this the people's faces changed, and when he (peace and blessings be upon him) saw their state, he said: "Your companion has stolen from the spoils in the path of Allah." So we searched his belongings and found in them beads of the Jews worth no more than two dirhams.
