حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، ثنا أَبِي، ثنا مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ حُمْرَانَ بْنِ أَعْيَنَ، عَنْ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ، عَنِ ابْنِ خَارِجَةَ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْأَشْعَثِيُّ، ثنا عَبْثَرُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، عَنْ حُمْرَانَ بْنِ أَعْيَنَ، عَنْ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ، عَنِ ابْنِ خَارِجَةَ، قَالَ: لَمَّا بَلَغَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَفَاةُ النَّجَاشِيِّ، قَالَ: «إِنَّ أَخَاكُمْ قَدْ تُوُفِّيَ» فَخَرَجَ فَصَفَفْنَا خَلْفَهُ، فَصَلَّيْنَا وَمَا نَرَى شَيْئًا
Ibn Kharijah said: When the news of the death of the Negus (al-Najashi) reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: "Your brother has passed away." So he (peace and blessings be upon him) came out, and we formed rows behind him (peace and blessings be upon him), and we prayed, though we could not see anything.
