أبو ليلى الحضرمي، عن زيد بن أرقم
Abu Layla al-Hadrami from Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him)
Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 5049 — from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Arqam; he said
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْفُرَاتِ، ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ مَهْجَعٍ، ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ أَرْقَمَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي لَيْلَى الْحَضْرَمِيِّ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ، قَالَ: خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: «أَلَسْتُ أَوْلَى بِكُمْ مِنْ أَنْفُسِكُمْ» ، قَالُوا: بَلَى، قَالَ: «فَمَنْ كُنْتُ مَوْلَاهُ فَعَلِيٌّ مَوْلَاهُ»
Abu Layla al-Hadrami narrates from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to us and said: "Do I not have a greater right over you than you have over yourselves?" The Companions said: Indeed, yes. He said: "Then whoever I am the mawla of, Ali is his mawla."
