Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 4921 — I met Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit and asked

Abdullah Ibn al-Daylami narrates: I met Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked him (about the divine decree), and he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "If Allah were to punish the inhabitants of His heavens and His earth, He would punish them while not being unjust to them, and if He were to have mercy on them, His mercy would be better for them than their deeds. And if Mount Uhud and another like it were gold and you spent it in the way of Allah, Allah would not accept it from you until you believe in the decree in its entirety, and know that what befell you could never have missed you, and what missed you could never have befallen you, and that if you die upon other than this (belief), you will enter the Fire."
