حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْمَكِّيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْوَسَاوِسِيُّ، ثنا ضَمْرَةُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ شَوْذَبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْجُوَيْرِيَةِ، عَنْ بَدْرِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ قَالَ: وَقَفَ عَلَيْنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ، يَوْمَ الدَّارِ، فَقَالَ: أَلَا تَسْتَحْيُونَ مِمَّنْ تَسْتَحْيِي مِنْهُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ؟ قُلْنَا: وَمَا ذَاكَ؟ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " مَرَّ بِي عُثْمَانُ وعِنْدِي مَلَكٌ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ، فَقَالَ: شَهِيدٌ يَقْتُلُهُ قَوْمُهُ، إِنَّا لَنَسْتَحْيِي مِنْهُ " قَالَ بَدْرٌ: «فَانْصَرَفْنَا عَنْهُ عِصَابَةً مِنَ النَّاسِ»
Badr bin Khalid (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: On the Day of the House (the day of the siege of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him)), Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) came and stood before us and said: "Do you not feel shame before the one before whom even the angels feel shame?" We said: "What is this matter?" He told us: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Uthman passed by me while an angel from among the angels was with me, and he said: 'This is a martyr whom his own people will kill; we feel shame before him.'" Badr said: So a group of us people turned away from him (from the siege) and went back.
