Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 4852 — Marwan said to Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit

Kharijah bin Zayd bin Thabit narrates that Marwan said to Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him): O Abu Sa'id, if you would permit us, we would write down your hadith from you. Zayd said: No. So Marwan seated a scribe for him behind the tent; he himself kept asking Zayd questions, and the scribe kept writing everything Zayd narrated. Then Marwan said: O Abu Sa'id, it seems to us that we have succeeded in the very thing you refused. Zayd said: By Allah, I will not move until that writing is brought to me. So the writing was brought, and he tore it up and said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from writing his hadith."
