حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو حَفْصٍ عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: كُنْتُ أَمْشِي مَعَ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ، إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ فَقَارَبَ بَيْنَ الْخُطَى، ثُمَّ قَالَ: أَتَدْرِي لِمَ مَشَيْتُ بِكَ هَذِهِ الْمِشْيَةَ؟ قُلْتُ: لَا، قَالَ: كُنْتُ أَمْشِي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَارَبَ بَيْنَ الْخُطَى فَقَالَ: «أَتَدْرِي لِمَ مَشَيْتُ بِكَ هَذِهِ الْمِشْيَةَ؟» قُلْتُ: لَا، قَالَ: «لِتَكْثُرَ خُطَانَا فِي الْمَشْيِ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ»
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I was walking towards the mosque with Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him), and while going towards the mosque he shortened his steps. Then he said: "Do you know why I walked with you in this way?" I said: No. He said: I was walking with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) shortened his steps, then said: "Do you know why I walked with you in this way?" I said: No. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "So that the number of our steps in walking to the prayer would increase."
