حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الدِّمْيَاطِيُّ، ثنا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي النَّضْرِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، صَاحِبِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى سَهْلٍ وَهُوَ مَرِيضٌ، وَتَحْتَ سَهْلٍ نَمَطٌ فِيهِ تَمَاثِيلُ، فَقَالَ سَهْلٌ: انْزِعُوا مِنْ تَحْتِي هَذَا النَّمَطَ، فَقَالَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فِي التَّصَاوِيرِ: «لَا تَدْخُلُهُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ إِلَّا مَا كَانَ مِنْ رَقْمٍ فِي ثَوْبٍ فَلَا بَأْسَ بِهِ» قَالَ سَهْلٌ: وَإِنْ كَانَ فَانْزِعُوهُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him), who was a Companion of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), that he went to visit Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was ill, and beneath Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) was a carpet bearing figures. Sahl said: "Remove this carpet from beneath me." Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said concerning images: 'The angels do not enter it; but there is no harm in an image that is a design on cloth.'" Sahl said: "Even if that is so, remove it anyway."
