Abbad bin Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated that Rabi'ah bin Umayyah bin Khalaf al-Jumahi was the one who, on the day of Arafah, would stand beneath the neck of the she-camel of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and call out his (peace and blessings be upon him) words in a loud voice. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Call out" - and he had a loud voice - "O people, do you know which month this is?" So he called it out, and the people said: Yes, it is the sacred month. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then indeed Allah has made your blood and your wealth sacred to you until you meet your Lord, like the sanctity of this month of yours." Then he said: "Call out: Do you know which city this is?" So he called it out, and the people said: Yes, it is the sacred city. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then indeed your blood and your wealth are sacred to you until the day you meet Him, like the sanctity of this city of yours." Then he said: "Call out: Which day is this?" So he called it out, and the people said: Yes, this is a sacred day, and this is the day of the Greater Hajj. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then indeed Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has made your blood and your wealth sacred to you until the day you meet Him, like the sanctity of this day of yours."
