حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْحَلَبِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ، أَنَا حَرْبُ بْنُ شَدَّادٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي هِلَالُ بْنُ أَبِي مَيْمُونَةَ، أَنَّ عَطَاءَ بْنَ يَسَارٍ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ رِفَاعَةَ الْجُهَنِيَّ، حَدَّثَهُ قَالَ: أَقْبَلْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى إِذَا كُنَّا بِالْكَدِيدِ، جَعَلُوا يَسْتَأْذِنُونَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى أَهَالِيهِمْ، فَيَأْذَنُ لَهُمْ. فَقَالَ: «مَا بَالُ شِقِّ الشَّجَرَةِ الَّتِي تَلِي رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَبْغَضُ إِلَيْكُمْ مِنَ الشِّقِّ الْآخَرِ؟» فَلَمْ يُرَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ إِلَّا بَاكٍ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ الَّذِي يَسْتَأْذِنُكَ بَعْدَ هَذَا لَسَفِيهٌ، فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى خَيْرًا ثُمَّ قَالَ: «أَشْهَدُ عِنْدَ اللهِ لَا يَمُوتُ عَبْدٌ شَهِدَ شَهَادَةَ أَنَّ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ صِدْقًا مِنْ قَلْبِهِ، ثُمَّ يُسَدِّدُ إِلَّا سُلِكَ بِهِ فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَلَقَدْ وَعَدَنِي رَبِّي أنْ يُدْخِلَ الْجَنَّةَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي سَبْعِينَ أَلْفًا لَا حِسَابَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا عَذَابَ، وَإِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ لَا تَدْخُلُوا حَتَّى تَتَبَوَّءُوا أَنْتُمْ وَمَنْ صَلَحَ مِنْ أَزْوَاجِكُمْ وَذَرَارِيِّكُمْ مَسَاكِنَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ»
وَقَالَ: " إِذَا مَضَى نِصْفُ اللَّيْلِ أَوْ ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ يَنْزِلُ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا، فَيَقُولُ: لَا أَسْأَلُ عَنْ عِبَادِي غَيْرِي، مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَسْتَغْفِرُنِي أَغْفِرُ لَهُ؟ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَدْعُونِي أَسْتَجِيبُ لَهُ؟ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَسْأَلُنِي أُعْطِيهِ؟ حَتَّى يَنْفَجِرَ الصُّبْحُ "
وَقَالَ: " إِذَا مَضَى نِصْفُ اللَّيْلِ أَوْ ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ يَنْزِلُ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا، فَيَقُولُ: لَا أَسْأَلُ عَنْ عِبَادِي غَيْرِي، مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَسْتَغْفِرُنِي أَغْفِرُ لَهُ؟ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَدْعُونِي أَسْتَجِيبُ لَهُ؟ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَسْأَلُنِي أُعْطِيهِ؟ حَتَّى يَنْفَجِرَ الصُّبْحُ "
Sayyiduna Rifa'ah al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We were coming back with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) until, when we reached al-Kadid, the people began asking the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for permission to go to their families, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) would grant them permission. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why is the side of this tree that is next to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) more hateful to you than the other side?" After that, no one among the people was seen who was not weeping, and a man from among the people said: O Messenger of Allah, whoever asks your permission even after this is a fool. He (peace and blessings be upon him) praised and extolled Allah, then said: "I bear witness before Allah that no servant dies having testified truthfully from his heart that there is no true god except Allah and that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah, and then remained steadfast on it, except that he will be made to travel the path into Paradise. My Lord has promised me that He will admit seventy thousand of my Ummah into Paradise without reckoning and without punishment, and I hope that you will not enter it until you, and those of your wives and offspring who are righteous, have taken up dwellings in Paradise."
And he said: "When half of the night or a third of the night has passed, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, descends to the lowest heaven and says: I ask no one other than Myself about My servants. Who is there who seeks My forgiveness, that I may forgive him? Who is there who calls upon Me, that I may answer him? Who is there who asks of Me, that I may give him? Until the morning breaks."
And he said: "When half of the night or a third of the night has passed, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, descends to the lowest heaven and says: I ask no one other than Myself about My servants. Who is there who seeks My forgiveness, that I may forgive him? Who is there who calls upon Me, that I may answer him? Who is there who asks of Me, that I may give him? Until the morning breaks."
