Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 4323 — from Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij; he said

Hanzalah bin Qays al-Zuraqi (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not forbid renting out land for gold and silver. Rather, we used to rent it out, then cultivate it, and this portion would be ours and that portion theirs. Whatever Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, brought forth from this portion would belong to this one, and whatever Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, brought forth from the other portion would belong to that one. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from that."
