حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حُصَيْنٍ الْقَاضِي، ثنا يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ سَوَّارٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يُزَارِعُ أَرْضَهُ، فَلَقِي رَافِعَ بْنَ خَدِيجٍ فَحَدَّثَهُ رَافِعٌ وَنَهَاهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ وَقَالَ: «إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ كَرْيِ الْمَزَارِعِ»
Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to give his land out for sharecropping. Then he met Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him), and Rafi' told him this hadith, forbade him from it and said: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade renting out farmland."
