حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَنْطَاكِيُّ، ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ كَعْبٍ الْحَلَبِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حِمْيَرٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الْحِمْصِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُهَاجِرٍ كِلَاهُمَا، عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ عَجْلَانَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو كَثِيرٍ الْمُحَارِبِيُّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ خَرَشَةَ الْمُحَارِبِيَّ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «سَتَكُونُ فِتَنٌ النَّائِمُ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَقْظَانِ، وَالْجَالِسُ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْقَائِمِ، وَالْقَائِمُ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْمَاشِيِ، وَالْمَاشِي خَيْرٌ مِنَ السَّاعِيِ، أَلَا فَمَنْ أَتَتْ عَلَيْهِ فَلْيَمْشِ بِسَيْفِهِ إِلَى الصَّفَاةِ فَلْيَضْرِبْهُ حَتَّى يَنْكَسِرَ، ثُمَّ يَضْطَجِعُ حَتَّى تَنْجَلِيَ عَمَّا انْجَلَتْ»
It is narrated from Kharashah al-Muharibi (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There will soon be trials (fitan) in which the one sleeping will be better than the one awake, the one sitting will be better than the one standing, the one standing will be better than the one walking, and the one walking will be better than the one running. Listen! Whoever is overtaken by it (the trial), let him take his sword to a rock and strike it upon it until it breaks, then let him lie down until it (the trial) clears away, however it clears."
