حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، ثنا وَاصِلُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَوْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «كَانَ يَسْتَاكُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to use the tooth-stick (miswak) two or three times during the night.
