حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ سَوْرَةَ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُونُسَ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ أَبِي نُعْمٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ، عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، أَنَّهُ جَاءَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَرَقَةِ بَقَرٍ فِيهَا ثُومٌ، فَوَجَدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رِيحَ الثُّومِ فَقَالَ: «أَخْرِجْهَا» قَالَ: لِمَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَحَرَامٌ؟ فَقَالَ: «لَا وَلَكِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ يُنَاجِينِي»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that he brought the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) a beef broth that had garlic in it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) noticed the smell of the garlic and said: "Take it away." He said: O Messenger of Allah, is it unlawful? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, but Jibril converses with me in private."
