Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 3946 — the Prophet ﷺ said: Witr is a truth

أَبُو شُعَيْبٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْبَابَلُتِّيُّ، ثنا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي الزُّهْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءٌ، عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «الْوِتْرُ حَقٌّ فَمَنْ شَاءَ أَوْتَرَ بِخَمْسٍ، وَمَنْ شَاءَ أَوْتَرَ بِثَلَاثٍ، وَمَنْ شَاءَ أَوْتَرَ بِوَاحِدَةٍ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Witr is a truth; whoever wishes may pray five rak'ahs of witr, whoever wishes may pray three rak'ahs, and whoever wishes may pray one rak'ah."
