Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 3872 — the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: When

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ طَارِقٍ، ثنا مَسْلَمَةُ بْنُ عُلَيٍّ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَاقِدٍ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَلَامَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي رُهْمٍ السَّمَاعِيَّ، عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِنَّ نَفْسَ الْمُؤْمِنِ إِذَا قُبِضَتْ تَلَقَّاهَا مِنْ أَهْلِ الرَّحْمَةِ مِنْ عَبَادِ اللهِ كَمَا تَلْقَوْنَ الْبَشِيرَ فِي الدُّنْيَا، فَيَقُولُونَ: انْظُرُوا صَاحِبَكُمْ يَسْتَرِيحُ، فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ كَانَ فِي كَرْبٍ شَدِيدٍ، ثُمَّ يَسْأَلُونَهُ مَاذَا فَعَلَ فُلَانٌ؟، وَمَا فَعَلَتْ فُلَانَةُ؟ هَلْ تَزَوَّجَتْ؟ فَإِذَا سَأَلُوهُ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ قَدْ مَاتَ قَبْلَهُ، فَيَقُولُ: أَيْهَاتَ قَدْ مَاتَ ذَاكَ قَبْلِي، فَيَقُولُونَ: إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ، ذُهِبَتْ بِهِ إِلَى أُمِّهِ الْهَاوِيَةِ فَبِئْسَتِ الْأُمُّ وَبِئْسَتِ الْمُرَبِّيَةُ " قَالَ: " وَإِنَّ أَعْمَالَكُمْ تُعْرَضُ عَلَى أَقَارِبِكُمْ وَعَشَائِرِكُمْ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْآخِرَةِ، فَإِنْ كَانَ خَيْرًا فَرِحُوا وَاسْتَبْشَرُوا، وَقَالُوا: اللهُمَّ هَذَا فَضْلُكَ وَرَحْمَتُكَ فَأَتْمِمْ نِعْمَتَكَ عَلَيْهِ، وَأَمِتْهُ عَلَيْهَا وَيُعْرَضُ عَلَيْهِمْ عَمَلُ الْمُسِيءِ، فَيَقُولُونَ: اللهُمَّ أَلْهِمْهُ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا تَرْضَى بِهِ عَنْهُ وتُقَرِّبُهُ إِلَيْكَ ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the soul of a believer is taken, the people of mercy among the servants of Allah receive it just as you receive a bearer of good news in this world. They say: Look at your companion, he is finding rest, for he was in severe distress. Then they ask him: What did so-and-so do? What did so-and-so (a woman) do? Did she marry? If they ask him about a man who died before him, he says: Alas! He died before me. Then they say: Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un (We belong to Allah and to Him we return); he has been taken to his mother, Hawiyah (Hell); what an evil mother and what an evil nurse!" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And your deeds are presented to your relatives and your clansmen among the people of the Hereafter. If they are good, they rejoice and are delighted, and say: O Allah, this is Your favour and Your mercy, so complete Your blessing upon him and cause him to die upon it. And when the deed of the wrongdoer is presented to them, they say: O Allah, inspire him to a righteous deed by which You will be pleased with him and bring him near to You."
