Salim bin Abdullah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: I got married during the lifetime of my father (Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both), and my father invited the people, and among those whom we invited was Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him). The household had covered (the walls of) my house with a green cloth. Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) came and entered, and saw me standing. Then he looked and saw that the house was covered with a green cloth, so he said: "O Abdullah, do you people cover walls with curtains?" My father said, feeling embarrassed: "O Abu Ayyub, the women got the better of us." He said: "Whoever I feared the women would get the better of, I did not fear that they would get the better of you." Then he said: "I will not eat your food, nor will I enter your house." Then he - may Allah have mercy on him - went out.
