Azrah bin Qays (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: Sayyiduna Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Commander of the Believers, Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), wrote (to me), when Syria had laid down its burden (that is, had become settled) and had begun yielding wheat and honey, and he ordered me to go to India - the narrator said: in those days, by India we understood Basrah - and I disliked that. A man stood up and said: "O Abu Sulayman, fear Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, for the trials (fitan) have appeared." He said: "While Ibn al-Khattab is alive? The trials will only come after him, when the people are at Dhu Billiyan - and Dhu Billiyan is at such-and-such a place - and a man will look and think whether he can find a place where the like of the trial and evil that has descended upon his own place has not descended, but he will not find it." The narrator said: These are the days which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned: "Before the Hour there will be days of harj (killing and turmoil)." So we seek refuge in Allah from those days reaching us and you.
