It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Abdullah al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man who did not complete his bowing (ruku') and pecked hastily in his prostration while praying. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If this man dies in this state of his, he will die upon a religion other than the religion of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The likeness of one who does not complete his bowing and pecks in his prostration is that of a hungry person who eats one or two dates, which do not benefit him at all."
Abu Salih said: I asked Abu Abdullah: "Who narrated this hadith to you from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He said: "The commanders of the armies, Amr bin al-As, Khalid bin al-Walid and Shurahbil bin Hasanah (may Allah be pleased with them), heard it from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)."
