Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 3823 — he complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) that he complained to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "I feel fear at night." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Shall I not teach you some words that Jibril (peace be upon him) taught me? He told me that an 'ifrit from among the jinn was trying to plot against me: 'A'udhu bi kalimatillahit-tammatil-lati la yujawizuhunna barrun wa la fajir, min sharri ma yanzilu minas-sama'i wa ma ya'ruju fiha, wa min sharri ma dhara'a fil-ardi wa ma yakhruju minha, wa min sharri fitanil-layli wa fitanin-nahar, wa min sharri tawariqil-layli wan-nahar, illa tariqan yatruqu bi khayrin ya Rahman' (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah, which no righteous or wicked person can go beyond, from the evil of whatever descends from the sky and whatever ascends into it, from the evil of whatever He has created in the earth and whatever comes out of it, from the evil of the trials of the night and the trials of the day, and from the evil of every visitor that comes by night and by day, except a visitor that comes with good, O Most Merciful)."
