It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that he entered the house of Maymunah bint al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with her) with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and a roasted lizard (dabb) was brought. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reached out his hand towards it, and some of the women who were in the house of Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Tell the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) what he is about to eat. So they told him that it was a lizard, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) held back his hand. I said: O Messenger of Allah, is it unlawful? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, but it is not found in the land of my people, so I find that I have an aversion to it." Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Then I pulled it towards me and ate it while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was watching.
