Khalid bin al-Walid al-Makhzumi (may Allah be pleased with him), Abu Sulayman: Khalid bin al-Walid bin al-Mughirah bin Abdullah bin Umar bin Makhzum bin Yaqazah bin Murrah bin Kab bin Luayy bin Ghalib bin Fihr bin Malik; his mother was Lubabah bint al-Harith bin Hazn bin Bujayr bin Ruwaybah bin Abdullah bin Hilal bin Amir bin Sasaah; the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) named him

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ثنا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي يَعْقُوبَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا نَعَى أَهْلَ مُؤْتَةَ قَالَ: «ثُمَّ أَخَذَ الرَّايَةَ سَيْفٌ مِنْ سُيُوفِ اللهِ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ فَفَتَحَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) announced the deaths of the people of Mu'tah, he said: "Then one of the swords of Allah, Khalid bin al-Walid, took up the banner, and Allah granted victory at his hands."
