حَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ مُضَرِّبٍ، قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ عَلَى خَبَّابِ بْنِ الْأَرَتِّ وَقَدِ اكْتَوَى سَبْعًا، فَقَالَ: لَوْلَا أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «لَا يَتَمَنَّ أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَوْتَ لَتَمَنَّيْتُهُ»
Harithah bin Mudarrib (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I went to Sayyiduna Khabbab bin al-Aratt (may Allah be pleased with him), and he had been cauterised in seven places. He said: Had I not heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "None of you should wish for death," I would have wished for it.
