Sayyiduna Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I was a blacksmith in the time of ignorance (Jahiliyyah), and al-As bin Wa'il owed me some money. I went to demand it from him. He said: I will not repay you until you disbelieve in Muhammad. I said: I will not disbelieve in Muhammad until Allah causes you to die and then resurrects you. He said: Leave me; when I die and am resurrected, I will have wealth and children, and then I will repay you. The narrator said: So this verse was revealed: "Have you seen the one who disbelieved in Our verses and said: 'I will surely be given wealth and children'" [Surah Maryam: 77] to the end of the verse.
