حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ حِمْدَانَ الْحَنَفِيُّ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ الْأُبُلِّيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ سُكَيْنٍ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ النَّضْرِ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ خَبَّابٍ، قَالَ: «كُنْتُ أَضَعُ الْعَنَزَةَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ»
حَدَّثَنَا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَلْطِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، قَالَ: دَخَلْنَا عَلَى خَبَّابٍ وَقَدِ اكْتَوَى، فَقَالَ: لَوْلَا أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «لَا يَتَمَنَّيَنَّ أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَوْتَ لَتَمَنَّيْتُهُ»
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا مَعْمَرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ، ثنا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ، قَالَ: دَخَلْنَا عَلَى خَبَّابٍ وَقَدِ اكْتَوَى سَبْعًا وَقَالَ: لَوْلَا أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «لَا يَتَمَنَّيَنَّ أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَوْتَ» لَتَمَنَّيْتُهُ

Sayyiduna Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: "I used to set up the 'anazah for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)."
Qays bin Abi Hazim (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated: We went in to Sayyiduna Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him), and he had had himself cauterised. He said: Had I not heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "None of you should ever wish for death," I would have wished for it.
Qays (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated: We went in to Sayyiduna Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him), and he had had himself cauterised in seven places. He said: Had I not heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "None of you should wish for death," I would have wished for it.
Qays bin Abi Hazim (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated: We went in to Sayyiduna Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him), and he had had himself cauterised.
