Sayyiduna al-Harith bin Ziyad al-Sa'idi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the day of the Khandaq (Trench), while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was taking the pledge of the people on emigration (hijrah). He said: O Messenger of Allah! Take this man's pledge on emigration. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Who is this?" He said: My cousin, Hawt bin Yazid or Yazid bin Hawt. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will not take your pledge on emigration, for people emigrate to you, and you do not emigrate to them."
