Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 3562 — Sayyiduna Hayyan bin Buhh al-Suda'i

Sayyiduna Hayyan bin Buhh al-Suda'i (may Allah be pleased with him), a Companion of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), narrated: My people disbelieved, and I was told that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had prepared an army against them. So I came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: My people remain upon Islam. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Is that really so?" I said: Yes. He said: I stayed with him (peace and blessings be upon him) through the night until morning, and I gave the call to prayer. When morning came, he (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me a vessel and I made ablution in it. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) put his fingers into the vessel, and springs gushed forth from it. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever of you wishes to make ablution, let him do so." So I made ablution and prayed. He (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed me as leader over my people and gave me their sadaqah (charity).
Then a man stood up before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: So-and-so has wronged me. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no good in leadership for a Muslim man."
Then a man came asking for charity, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Charity (taken by begging) is a headache, a burning in the belly and a disease." So I returned to him (peace and blessings be upon him) the document of my leadership and of my charity. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What is the matter with you?" I said: How can I accept it when I have heard from you what I have heard? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is as you heard."
