حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ قِيرَاطٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ يُوسُفَ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ مُعَانِقٍ الدِّمَشْقِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «مَنْ سَأَلَ اللهَ الْقَتْلَ فِي سَبِيلِهِ صَادِقًا عَنْ نَفْسِهِ، ثُمَّ مَاتَ أَوْ قُتِلَ فَلَهُ أَجْرُ شَهِيدٍ، وَمَنْ جُرِحَ جُرْحًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ أَوْ نُكِبَ نَكْبَةً فَإِنَّهَا تَأْتِي يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ كَأَغْزَرِ مَا كَانَتْ، لَوْنُهَا كَالزَّعْفَرَانِ وَرِيحُهَا رِيحُ الْمِسْكِ، وَمَنْ خَرَجَ بِهِ جِرَاحٌ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ طَابَعُ الشُّهَدَاءِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Malik al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever sincerely, from the depth of his heart, asks Allah for being killed in His path, then dies or is killed, will have the reward of a martyr. And whoever is wounded in the path of Allah or is struck by some calamity, it will come on the Day of Resurrection with his wound at its very freshest; its colour will be like saffron and its scent like musk. And whoever has wounds break out (on his body) in the path of Allah will bear the seal of the martyrs."
