Mahmud bin Labid (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Sayyiduna al-Harith bin al-Simmah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: On the day of Uhud, while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was in the mountain pass, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me: "Have you seen Abd al-Rahman bin Awf?" I said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah, I saw him towards the side of the mountain, with a crowd of the polytheists upon him. I ran towards him to help him, but then I saw you (peace and blessings be upon him) and turned towards you (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Listen! The angels are fighting alongside him." Al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Then I went back to Abd al-Rahman (may Allah be pleased with him) and found him among seven men lying dead. I said to him: May your right hand be victorious! Did you kill all of these? He said: This one is Artat bin Shurahbil, and this other one; I killed these two. As for the rest, they were killed by one whom I did not see. I said: Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth.
