حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْمُنْذِرِ الْقَزَّازُ، ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، ثنا أَبَانُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنْ مَوْلَاهُ أَبِي وَاقِدٍ اللَّيْثِيِّ، قَالَ: بَيْنَا نَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي حَلْقَةٍ إِذْ جَاءَ ثَلَاثَةُ نَفَرٍ، فأَمَّا رَجُلٌ فَوَجَدَ فُرْجَةً فِي الْحَلْقَةِ فَقَعَدَ فِيهَا، وَأَمَّا الْآخَرُ فَقَعَدَ خَلْفَ الْحَلْقَةِ، وَأَمَّا رَجُلٌ آخَرُ فَمَضَى، فَقَالَ: رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ عَنِ الثَّلَاثَةِ؟ أَمَّا الَّذِي جَلَسَ فِي الْحَلْقَةِ فَرَجُلٌ أَوَى فَآوَاهُ اللهُ، وَأَمَّا الَّذِي جَلَسَ خَلْفَ الْحَلْقَةِ فَرَجُلٌ اسْتَحْيَى فَاسْتَحْيَى اللهُ مِنْهُ، وَأَمَّا الَّذِي أَعْرَضَ فَأَعْرَضَ اللهُ عَنْهُ»
Sayyiduna Abu Waqid al-Laythi (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in a circle when three men came. One man found an empty space in the circle and sat in it, the second sat behind the circle, and the third went away. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Shall I not tell you about these three? The one who sat in the circle is a man who sought refuge, so Allah gave him refuge. The one who sat behind the circle is a man who felt shy, so Allah was also shy of him. And the one who turned away, Allah turned away from him."
