Sayyiduna Abu Waqid al-Laythi (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We used to be with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and whenever something was revealed to him (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) would inform us of it. One day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A verse has been revealed to me: We sent down wealth for establishing the prayer and giving the zakah. If the son of Adam had a valley (of wealth), he would seek a second; and if he had a second, he would seek a third. Nothing fills the soul of the son of Adam except dust, and Allah accepts the repentance of whoever repents."
Imam al-Tabarani (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Rabi'ah bin Uthman differed from Hisham bin Sa'd and Ibn Muhabbar in the chain of this hadith.
