Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 3287 — We used to come to the Prophet ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ، ثنا أَبُو هَمَّامٍ الدَّلَّالُ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي وَاقِدٍ اللَّيْثِيِّ، قَالَ: كُنَّا نَأْتِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذْ أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ الْوَحْيُ فَيُحَدِّثُنَا، فَقَالَ لَنَا ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ: «لَوْ أَنَّ لِابْنِ آدَمَ وَادِيًا لَأَحَبَّ أَنْ يَكُونَ إِلَيْهِ ثَانٍ، وَلَوْ أَنَّ لَهُ وَادِيَيْنِ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَكُونَ الثَّالِثُ، وَلَا يَمْلَأُ جَوْفَ ابْنِ آدَمَ إِلَّا التُّرَابُ، ثُمَّ يَتُوبُ اللهُ عَلَى مَنْ تَابَ»
Sayyiduna Abu Waqid al-Laythi (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We used to come to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and when revelation was sent down to him (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) would tell us about it. One day he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to us: "If the son of Adam had a valley (of wealth), he would love to have a second; and if he had two valleys, he would long for a third. Nothing fills the belly of the son of Adam except dust. Then Allah accepts the repentance of whoever repents."
