Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 3213 — I passed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ، قَالَ: مَرَرْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَعَهُ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ جَالِسٌ فِي الْمَقَاعِدِ فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ أَجَزْتُ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفْتُ وَرَجَعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِي: «هَلْ رَأَيْتَ الَّذِي كَانَ مَعِي؟» قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ. قَالَ: «فَإِنَّهُ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ، وَقَدْ رَدَّ عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامَ»
Sayyiduna Harithah bin al-Nu'man (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I passed by the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while Jibril (peace be upon him) was sitting with him (peace and blessings be upon him) at al-Maqa'id, so I greeted him (peace and blessings be upon him) with salam and then went on. When I came back, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had also returned, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Did you see the one who was with me?" I said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That was Jibril (peace be upon him), and he has returned your greeting."
