Al-Muttalib bin Abdullah narrates: When Husayn bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was surrounded, he asked: What is the name of this place? The people said: Karbala. He said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) spoke the truth; it is a place of karb (anguish) and bala' (affliction)."
