حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الصُّوفِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو غَسَّانَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُمَيْرٍ عَمُّ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي حُمَيْدٍ الطَّحَّانِ، قَالَ: " كُنْتُ فِي خُزَاعَةَ، فَجَاءُوا بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ تَرِكَةِ الْحُسَيْنِ، فَقِيلَ لَهُمْ: نَنْحَرُ أَوْ نَبِيعُ فَنَقْسِمُ. قَالَ: انْحَرُوا ". قَالَ: «فَجَلَسَ عَلَى جَفْنَةٍ، فَلَمَّا وُضِعَتْ فَارَتْ نَارًا»
Abu Humayd al-Tahhan said: I was among the tribe of Khuza'ah, and the people brought some of the belongings left behind by Husayn. It was said to them: Shall we slaughter it, or sell it and divide (the price)? The one in charge said: Slaughter it. The narrator said: Then he sat by a large bowl, and when the bowl was set down, fire flared up from it.
