Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 2697 — I said to Sayyiduna Hasan bin Ali: What

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُسَاوِرٍ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ، ثنا عَفَّانُ، ثنا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ بُرَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْحَوْرَاءِ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِلْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ: مَا تَذْكُرُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ قَالَ: أَذْكُرُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّنِي أَخَذْتُ تَمْرَةً مِنْ تَمْرِ الصَّدَقَةِ، فَجَعَلْتُهَا فِي فِيَّ، فَنَزَعَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِلُعَابِهَا، فَجَعَلَهَا فِي التَّمْرِ، فَقِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا عَلَيْكَ مِنْ هَذِهِ التَّمْرَةِ لِهَذَا الصَّبِيِّ؟ فَقَالَ: «إِنَّا آلَ مُحَمَّدٍ لَا تَحِلُّ لَنَا الصَّدَقَةُ»
Abu al-Hawra' (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I said to Sayyiduna Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): What do you remember of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? He said: I remember of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that I took a date from the dates of sadaqah (charity) and put it in my mouth, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took it out with its saliva and put it back among the dates. It was said: O Messenger of Allah, what harm would this one date have done to this child? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sadaqah is not lawful for us, the family of Muhammad."
