حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ أُسَامَةَ، وَيَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، وَوَكِيعٌ، قَالُوا: ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، قَالَ: كُنَّا جُلُوسًا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَنَظَرَ إِلَى الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ أَرْبَعَ عَشْرَةَ، فَقَالَ: «إِنَّكُمْ سَتَرَوْنَ رَبَّكُمْ كَمَا تَرَوْنَ هَذَا لَا تُضَامُونَ فِي رُؤْيَتِهِ، فَإِنِ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَنْ لَا تُغْلَبُوا عَنْ صَلَاةٍ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ غُرُوبِهَا فَافْعَلُوا» ثُمَّ قَرَأَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ: {وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ غُرُوبِهَا} [طه: ١٣٠]
Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We were sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when he (peace and blessings be upon him) looked at the moon on the fourteenth night and said: "You will soon see your Lord just as you see this; you will have no difficulty in seeing Him. So if you are able not to let the prayer before the rising of the sun and before its setting be missed, then do so." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "And glorify the praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting." [Surah Ta-Ha: 130]
