Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 2213 — We were sitting with the Messenger

حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، وَأَبُو أُسَامَةَ، وَوَكِيعٌ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، قَالَ: كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَنْظُرُ إِلَى الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ فَقَالَ: «أَمَا إِنَّكُمْ سَتُعْرَضُونَ عَلَى رَبِّكُمْ فَتَرَوْنَهُ كَمَا تَرَوْنَ هَذَا الْقَمَرَ لَا تُضَامُونَ فِي رُؤْيَتِهِ، فَإِنِ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَنْ لَا تُغْلَبُوا عَلَى صَلَاةٍ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ غُرُوبِهَا» ثُمَّ قَرَأَ: {وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ الْغُرُوبِ} [ق: ٣٩]
Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was looking at the moon on the night of the full moon, and he said: "Listen! You will soon be presented before your Lord and you will see Him just as you see this moon; you will have no difficulty in seeing Him. So if you are able, do not let the prayer before the rising of the sun and before its setting be missed." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "And glorify the praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before the setting." [Surah Qaf: 39]
