Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 2200 — Sayyiduna Umar led the people in prayer

حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ، ثنا يَحْيَى، عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ، ثنا عَامِرٌ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ: " أَنَّ عُمَرَ رَضِي اللهُ عَنْهُ صَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ فَخَرَجَ مِنْ إِنْسَانٍ شَيْءٌ فَقَالَ: عَزَمْتُ عَلَى صَاحِبِ هَذه إِلَّا تَوَضَّأَ وَأَعَادَ صَلَاتَهُ، فَقَالَ جَرِيرٌ: أَوَ تَعْزِمُ عَلَى كُلِّ مَنْ سَمِعَهَا أَنْ يَتَوَضَّأَ وَأَنْ يُعِيدَ الصَّلَاةَ، قَالَ: نِعِمَّا، قُلْتُ: جَزَاكَ اللهُ خَيْرًا فَأَمَرَهُمْ بِذَلِكَ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) led the people in prayer, and something passed from one person. He said: "I adjure the one responsible for this to perform ablution and repeat his prayer." At this Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Would you rather adjure everyone who heard it to perform ablution and repeat the prayer?" Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "That is good." Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I said: "May Allah reward you with good." So he ordered all of them to do that.
