حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، وَأَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ صَفْوَانَ، عَنْ أُسَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُسَيْدٍ الْبَرَّادِ، عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ مِنَ الْمُبَايِعَاتِ قَالَتْ: كَانَ فِيمَا أَخَذَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ: «لَا نَعْصِيَهُ فِي الْمَعْرُوفِ، وَأَنْ لَا نَخْمِشَ وَجْهًا، وَلَا نَنْشُرَ شِعْرًا وَلَا نَشُقَّ جَيْبًا، وَلَا نَدْعُوَ وَيْلًا»
A female Companion (may Allah be pleased with her) from among the women who gave the pledge of allegiance said: Among the things on which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took a covenant from us was that we would not disobey him (peace and blessings be upon him) in what is right, and that (in grief over the deceased) we would not scratch our faces, nor dishevel our hair, nor tear the fronts of our garments, nor cry out in lamentation.
