حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ، ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَتْنَا حُبَابَةُ بِنْتُ عَجْلَانَ الْخُزَاعِيَّةُ، قَالَتْ: حَدَّثَتْنِي أُمِّي حَفْصَةُ، عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ حَكِيمٍ بِنْتِ وَدَاعٍ الْخُزَاعِيَّةِ، قَالَتْ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ " مَا جَزَاءُ الْغَنِيِّ مِنَ الْفَقِيرِ؟ قَالَ: «النَّصِيحَةُ وَالدُّعَاءُ» . قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ نَكْرَهُ رَدَّ اللُّطْفِ. قَالَ: «مَا أَقْبَحَهُ لَوْ أُهْدِيَ إِلَيَّ كُرَاعٌ، لَقَبِلْتُ وَلَوْ دُعِيتُ إِلَى ذِرَاعٍ لَأَجَبْتُ»
Sayyidah Umm Hakim bint Wada' al-Khuza'iyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is the right of the wealthy upon the poor?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sincere counsel and supplication." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, we dislike returning a gift." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How bad that is! If even a sheep's trotter were given to me as a gift, I would accept it, and if I were invited to a meal of a sheep's foreleg, I would accept."
