It is narrated from Ibn Sufyan that a Jewish woman used to visit Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) and talk with her, and when she got up to leave she would say: "May Allah protect you from the punishment of the grave." When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) told him (peace and blessings be upon him) about this. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "She has lied; that is only for the People of the Book." Then there was an eclipse of the sun, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I seek refuge in Allah from the punishment of the grave." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said the takbir, stood and prolonged the standing, then bowed and prolonged the bowing, then raised his head, stood and prolonged the standing, then bowed and prolonged the bowing, though it was shorter than the first bowing. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) performed two bowings in the same way and two prostrations, standing and bowing in them in the same way.
