Salim Abu al-Nadr (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Uthman bin Maz'un (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was dying. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered a cloth, and it was spread over him. Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) was staying with a woman of the Ansar called Umm Mu'adh. The narrator said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stayed with him for a long time, and his (peace and blessings be upon him) companions were with him. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) moved aside and began to weep. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) wept, the people of the house also began to weep. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah have mercy on you, O Abu al-Sa'ib!" And al-Sa'ib had taken part in the Battle of Badr with him (peace and blessings be upon him). The narrator said: Umm Mu'adh said: O Abu al-Sa'ib! Congratulations to you on Paradise. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How do you know, O Umm Mu'adh? As for him, the certainty (death) has come to him, and we know nothing about him but good." She said: No, by Allah! After this I will never say this about anyone.
