باب من يعرف من النساء بالكنى لمن لم ينته إلينا أسماؤهن ممن لهن صحبة فمنهن أم كلثوم بنت عقبة بن أبي معيط امرأة عبد الرحمن بن عوف — ما أسندت أم سليم
Chapter: Women known by their kunyahs whose names have not reached us, among the female Companions; among them is Umm Kulthum bint Uqbah bin Abi Mu'ayt (may Allah be pleased with her), wife of Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) — Reports Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ثنا الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ فَرُّوخَ التَّمِيمِيُّ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو عَمَّارٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ، قَالَتْ: كُنْتُ فِي بَعْضِ حُجَرِ نِسَاءِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَهُوَ عِنْدَهُ إِذْ جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ، فَشَكَا إِلَيْهِ الْحَاجَةَ، فَقَالَ: «اصْبِرْ فَوَاللهِ مَا فِي آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ شَيْءٌ مُنْذُ سَبْعٍ، وَلَا أُوَقِدَ تَحْتَ بُرْمَةٍ لَهُمْ مُنْذُ ثَلَاثٍ، وَاللهِ لَوْ سَأَلْتُ اللهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ جِبَالَ تِهَامَةَ كُلَّهَا ذَهَبًا لَفَعَلَ»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her); she said: I was in one of the apartments of the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was there, when a man came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and complained to him of his need. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Be patient. By Allah! The family of Muhammad has had nothing for seven days, and no fire has been lit under a cooking pot for them for three days. By Allah! If I were to ask Allah to turn all the mountains of Tihamah into gold, He would certainly do so."
