حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْأَزْدِيُّ، ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، ثنا زَائِدَةُ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانٍ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ، قَالَتْ: تُوُفِّيَتْ إِحْدَى بَنَاتِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَجَاءَنَا نَبِيُّ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: " اغْسِلْنَهَا بِالسِّدْرِ، وَاغْسِلْنَهَا وِتْرًا ثَلَاثًا، أَوْ خَمْسًا، أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ إِنْ رَأَيْتُنَّ، وَاجْعَلْنَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ كَافُورًا، فَإِذَا فَرَغْتُنَّ فَائْذَنَّنِي قَالَتْ: فَلَمَّا فَرَغْنَا آذَنَّاهُ فَأَلْقَى إِلَيْنَا حَقْوَهُ، فَقَالَ: أَشْعِرْنَهَا إِيَّاهُ، قَالَتْ: ضَفَّرْنَا رَأْسَهَا ثَلَاثَ قُرُونٍ نَاصِيَتَهَا، وَقَرْنَهَا ثُمَّ أَلْقَيْنَاهُ خَلْفَهَا "
Sayyidah Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: One of the daughters of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, so the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us and said: "Wash her with (water and) lote-tree (leaves), and wash her an odd number of times, three or five, or more than that if you see fit, and put camphor in the last washing, and when you have finished, inform me." She said: When we finished, we informed him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) threw his waist-wrapper to us and said: "Wrap her in it, next to her body." She said: We braided the hair of her head into three plaits: the hair of her forehead and (the two) sides, and then we let them fall behind her.
